Elnabatat Botanical Garden Kitchner's Island

The garden is one of the most beautiful botanical gardens ancient people of the world, and it is considered one of the most important research centers in Egypt.
The garden is located on an oval-shaped island and has an area of 17 hectares. It includes a collection of tropical plants, medicinal plants, ornamental plants and aromatic plants.
The island was settled by the Nubians and was known as "Garden Natron". The British at the end of the nineteenth century used the island as a military base and renamed it "Radar Island". King Fouad I again renamed it in "King's Island". Finally, after the 1952 revolution, President Gamal Abdel Nasser defined finally the site as "Island of plants".

The garden is divided into 7 sections:
1. Timber trees such as: ebony, mahogany and sandalwood.
2. Tropical fruit trees such as: papaya, jack fruit and grapefruit.
3. Medicinal and aromatic plants such as: siwaak, tamarind, carob, hibiscus, ginger.
4. Spicy plants such as: chili pepper, cardamom, cloves and pepper.
5. Ornamental plants such as: jasmine, carnation, tulips and petunias.
6. Oily plants such as: oil palm and olive trees.
7. Group of palm trees such as: coconut palm, date palm.
