The place where the unfinished obelisk is located is known as the Aswan Granite Quarries, about 2 km south of the city.
This site was the main source of granite for ancient Egypt. The unfinished obelisk personifies the ambition of the ancients
Egyptian, because it would have been the tallest obelisk ever erected, in fact its dimensions are 41,75 meters long with a base of
4,2 x 4,2 meters, but cracks discovered during the creation process stopped its completion.
Despite this it is an amazing monument symbolizing the architectural excellence and the engineering skill of ancient Egypt.
