The flag was created Pierre De Coubertain in 1913.
The five circles and the white background represent all the colors of the flags of the world.
Until the year 1951, the association between the colors of the circles and the continents was reported in the Official Olympic Manual; this association between colors and circles HAS been withdrawn by the IOC and is not anymore official, but it is still common in popular feeling.

-   Africa	is represented by the colour   black
-   America	is represented by the colour   red
-   Asia	is represented by the colour   yellow
-   Europa	is represented by the colour   green
-   Oceania	is represented by the colour   blue

MOTTO

The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.
