The flag was adopted in 1947.
Saffron yellow represents courage and sacrifice, white represents truth and peace while green represents faith and loyalty.
The three colored bands are of equal height and also in the center of the white line is drawn in blue navy color the chakra that is a 24 spoke wheel.

The base has the 4 lions of Ashok and is the symbol of India since 1950. When looking at it, due to the perspective, only 3 lions are visible.
The 4 lions represent power, courage, pride and trust.
